WideOrbit Inc., the leading provider of advertising management software for media companies, is pleased to announce that it has significantly expanded WO Cloud, the company’s hosting service for broadcast stations and media networks operating WideOrbit solutions. To accommodate the growing number of stations requesting hosted solutions, WideOrbit has increased the physical capacity of its WO Cloud hosting facility by 50%. In addition, WideOrbit has implemented a new dynamic route optimization network that uses a multi-provider internet backbone to improve performance and reliability.

WideOrbit has offered hosting for both primary and Disaster Recovery (DR) systems to its clients for several years with more than 270 stations, 470 channels and 2,200 users currently hosting their WideOrbit Traffic solutions and ancillary products on WO Cloud. WO Cloud is a cost-effective, turnkey hosting service that allows clients to access WideOrbit solutions through a highly secure and monitored internet environment without the need to purchase, set up and maintain the necessary hardware and software. WO Cloud delivers a reliable and scalable solution that can significantly lower operational costs to broadcast stations and media networks.

“I’m encouraged by the recent increased demand for our WO Cloud hosting services,” said Alec Pettersen, Chief Information Officer at WideOrbit. “One of the initial hurdles most companies struggle with is loss of control. Our WideOrbit hosting team has worked with public and private companies to overcome this and we handle everything from daily backups to hardware and operating system upgrades. Equally important, we have extensive experience with Governance, Risk Management, Compliance and Business Continuity. WO Cloud allows our clients to focus on their core business while we concentrate on running and maintaining their WideOrbit systems to the highest possible industry standards. We’re looking forward to more clients taking advantage of WO Cloud.”

Broadcast and network clients currently using WO Cloud to host their WideOrbit systems include: Entercom Communications, Gray Television, Lilly Broadcasting, New York Public Radio, Pelmorex Media, Radio One and ROOT Sports. Entercom Communications, one of the five largest radio broadcasting companies in the U.S., is using WO Cloud to host more than 100 radio stations that span 23 markets.

WO Cloud has freed us from the responsibility of managing our WO Traffic and WO CRM systems,” said John Graefe, Vice President of Information Technology at Entercom Communications. “Quite frankly, who better to keep the systems optimized and manage upgrades and integrations than the people who wrote the software? WO Cloud has allowed my team to keep our support focus on sales, business and traffic users, and other business drivers.”

Radio One is an urban-oriented, multi-media company that uses WO Cloud to host 55 owned or operated broadcast stations located in 16 urban markets that span the U.S.

WO Cloud has allowed us to get our stations up and running on WO Traffic quickly and easily,” said Chris Rossi, Acting CIO for Radio One. “We purchased hardware from our own sources and WideOrbit’s technical staff manages it in their facility in San Francisco. WO Cloud is secure and reliable, and we’re extremely happy with the support that WideOrbit has provided to us.”

“In the future, I expect that 100% of our clients will be using WO Cloud,” said Eric R. Mathewson, Founder and CEO of WideOrbit. “It just makes sense. With WO Cloud, our clients have full access to their WideOrbit solutions in a completely secure, reliable and optimized environment without the added personnel and operational costs associated with purchasing and maintaining the hardware and third-party software.”
